Areas
of Specialization |
Tax Planning
Dean uses his thirty years of experience as a CPA and his
knowledge of the tax code to formulate financial planning
strategies that reduce and defer tax liabilities to maximize
net earned income and after tax investment returns.
Investment Advice
Based on a thorough understanding of the client's financial
objectives, risk tolerance and investment time horizon; Dean
helps them build a diversified portfolio centered around the
use of low cost and tax efficient stock index mutual funds.
Dean's investment philosophy is based on extensive academic
research, which has shown that trying to beat the stock market
is a "loser's game". Numerous studies have shown
that attempting to select successful (consistent market beating)
active investment managers and mutual funds is virtually impossible
and prohibitively expensive. It is Dean’s belief that
a well-diversified portfolio containing index funds offers
the investor the highest probability of reaching their financial
goals.
College Funding
There are many different strategies to consider when planning
for college costs. Many involve understanding and maximizing
the benefits of the college financial aid system. Others involve
tax efficient long-term saving or ways to generate more after-tax
dollars, such as 529 College Savings Plans and Education Savings
Accounts (ESA). Dean's knowledge of the tax code, the college
financial aid system and investment planning enables his clients
to make the most efficient use of these funding options.
Retirement Planning
Prior experience as a qualified retirement plan administrator
and his knowledge of retirement plan tax law (including IRA
and 401k plans) enables Dean to develop a plan to help his
clients maximize their benefits during retirement.
Employee Stock Options
Optimization of this valuable benefit requires a thorough
understanding of the complicated employee stock option tax
rules and the ability to effectively incorporate these employee
stock options into the client's overall investment plan. As
a CPA and investment adviser with experience in employee stock
option taxation, including the alternative minimum tax (AMT),
Dean is able to provide this specialized service.
Employee Benefits
Twelve years of experience as a corporate benefits manager
has provided Dean with the expertise to help clients take
full advantage of their employee benefits.
Cash Management
Dean helps clients obtain financial peace of mind by developing
a plan to increase savings and reduce debt.
